The short version
Auto Refresh Web - Monitor refreshes tabs and checks pages for keywords inside your browser. Your intervals, keywords, rules and the pages you monitor stay on your device. There is no account and no sign-in.
Two things can leave your device:
- Email alerts, only if you turn them on — your email address, the keyword, the type of alert and the URL of the page that matched are sent to our server so the email can be delivered.
- Anonymous usage statistics — which features are used, with a random ID and your browser, operating system and extension version. Never the pages you visit or what you monitor.
We do not sell data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who is responsible
Extension.lat, the publisher of Auto Refresh Web - Monitor, is the data controller for the processing described in this policy. For any question or request about personal data, write to privacy@extension.lat. We answer in English or Spanish.
This policy covers the extension. The website you are reading has its own privacy policy.
What stays on your device
The extension stores its data with the browser storage API, on your computer. This includes:
- global options: notification and sound settings, hotkeys, timer position, your rules;
- per-site settings: refresh interval, keywords, CSS selectors you picked, and a copy of the monitored text used to detect "any change";
- the email address you enter for email alerts, if you enter one;
- technical values: the state of the tabs being refreshed, the time of the last refresh, and the random ID used for usage statistics.
The pages you refresh are read and compared locally to find your keywords. Their content is not uploaded to us or anyone else. Removing the extension, or using "reset all settings" in its options, deletes this data from your browser.
Email alerts (opt-in)
Email alerts are off by default. If you turn them on and enter an email address, then each
time a keyword alert fires on a site where email alerts are enabled, the extension sends the
following to our server at dash.autorefresh.site:
- your email address;
- the keyword that matched and whether it was found or lost;
- the URL of the page where it matched.
This data is used for one purpose: sending you that alert email. It is not used for marketing, and we do not add your address to any mailing list. Turn email alerts off, or remove the address, and nothing more is sent.
Usage statistics
To know which features are used and to catch errors after an update, the extension sends anonymous events to Google Analytics 4 through its Measurement Protocol. Each event contains:
- a random identifier generated on install, not linked to your name, email or Google account;
- browser name and version, operating system name and version, and the extension version;
- the event itself — for example install, update, opening the popup or options, starting or stopping a refresh, adding a keyword or a rule, and the rating you choose in the review prompt;
- error messages from the extension, so we can fix bugs.
Events do not include the URLs or content of the pages you visit, your keywords or your email address.
Version check
When the browser starts, and roughly once an hour after that, the extension sends its version number to our server and receives a small set of configuration flags back, such as whether optional features are available. No personal data is included in this request beyond what any network request carries (such as your IP address, which our server does not store for this purpose).
What we do not collect
- No browsing history, and no content from the pages you refresh or monitor.
- No accounts, passwords, names or payment details.
- No keystrokes, form contents or cookies from the sites you visit.
- No advertising identifiers, and no selling, renting or sharing of data for advertising.
Permissions
Each permission the extension requests has one job:
- Site access (optional, per site) — requested only for the sites where you use the extension, to read the page for keyword checks and show the on-page timer. You can revoke it in Options → Permissions.
- tabs — reload tabs, track which ones are refreshing, and switch to a tab when a match is found.
- scripting — run the monitoring script in the pages you allowed.
- webNavigation (optional) — list the frames of a page so keyword checks can include them.
- notifications — show desktop alerts.
- offscreen — play alert sounds while the tab is in the background.
- alarms — run refresh timers and scheduled rules.
- contextMenus — add "Start/Stop Auto Refresh" to the right-click menu.
- storage, unlimitedStorage — keep your settings in your browser.
Who else is involved
Google processes the usage statistics described above as our analytics provider. Our hosting and email delivery providers process the email-alert data on our behalf, only to deliver the email. All of them act under their own terms as processors or service providers. We will name our current providers on request at privacy@extension.lat.
We do not sell or share personal data with anyone else, except where the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
- Data on your device: until you reset the extension, clear its data or uninstall it.
- Email-alert data: kept only as long as needed to deliver the email and keep short technical delivery logs.
- Usage statistics: kept in Google Analytics according to the data retention setting of our property, after which it is deleted automatically.
Your rights and choices
You decide whether email alerts are on, and which sites the extension can access. Depending on where you live, you also have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Readers in Latin America have equivalent rights under national law, including Brazil LGPD, Colombia Ley 1581 de 2012, Mexico LFPDPPP and Argentina Ley 25.326.
Send requests to privacy@extension.lat. We answer within 30 days. Because usage statistics use a random ID, we cannot link them to you unless you give us that ID; uninstalling the extension stops them and discards the ID.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs and browser extension APIs by Auto Refresh Web - Monitor adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide and improve the extension's single purpose — refreshing and monitoring web pages — and is never transferred for advertising, credit decisions or data brokering.
Children
Auto Refresh Web - Monitor is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that age), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to privacy@extension.lat and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If what the extension collects changes, this policy changes before the update ships, and the date at the top of the page changes with it. Data collected under an older version stays governed by the policy in force when it was collected.
